Enhanced login security profile for Princeton systems required by Sept. 15

A new login procedure for accessing online information intended to better protect personal identity and Princeton's confidential data is being implemented by the Office of Information Technology (OIT).

Beginning Monday, July 27, users who log in to Human Resources Self Service applications, PeopleSoft human resources and student records applications, or SCORE will be able to create an enhanced security profile consisting of a new password, a personal image/phrase, and three security questions and answers.

After creating a profile, users will see their personal image and phrase whenever they log in to these systems to assure that they have reached a valid Princeton site. The security questions will be asked when users access confidential information from different locations and will allow them to reset a forgotten password without calling the OIT Help Desk.

Users are required to set up their new profile with the new security system, called PUaccess, by Tuesday, Sept. 15. After setting the new password with PUaccess, users also must enter that password when logging in to e-mail and other central University systems.

More information will be provided on July 27 on the PUaccess page help link. Those with questions should contact the OIT Help Desk at (609) 258-HELP (4357) or helpdesk@princeton.edu; or initiate an online chat from the OIT home page.
