Faculty Road closed; drivers should plan alternate route—UPDATED 4:20 p.m

Faculty Road on campus between Elm Drive and FitzRandolph Road continues to be closed Monday, Jan. 25, because of fallen electrical wires. Vehicles leaving campus may exit via the Elm Drive circle off Faculty Road and travel west toward Alexander Street. Vehicles parked in Lot 21 should exit the lot via FitzRandolph Road.

Drivers traveling on Washington Road also may experience delays because a traffic light is not functioning at the corner of Washington and Faculty roads. Washington Road was closed earlier in the day because of fallen wires, but has re-opened to traffic.

Portions of Faculty Road have been closed for most of the day after a tree fell and knocked down electrical wires across the road. The fallen wires also caused power outages at 171 Broadmead, Hibben and Magie Apartments and the Shea Rowing Center boathouse. Personnel from PSE&G currently are working at the scene and hope to have the road re-opened and power restored later this evening.

Faculty Road is expected to be open to normal vehicle traffic Tuesday morning.
