University Place detour to begin Aug. 2

Starting on Saturday, Aug. 2, University Place will be closed to through traffic from College Road to Alexander Street due to construction of the Princeton University Arts and Transit Project. This closure is expected to remain in place until the end of August. Access for vehicles traveling to the Wawa customer parking lot will be maintained via the roundabout on Alexander Street.

A detour for vehicular traffic will be in place for the duration of the closure. The temporary traffic signal at the intersection of College Road and Alexander Street will be operational while the detour is being used. This signal will begin operating in "flash" mode on Thursday, July 31; it will begin normal operation on Saturday, Aug. 2.

Local access to and from the metered diagonal parking spaces along University Place south of College Road, adjacent to the McCarter Theatre Center, will be maintained via the College Road-University Place intersection.

Additionally, pedestrian and bike paths in the area will be shifted during this construction phase. Please follow signage that will be posted when walking, biking and/or driving through the area.

Updated maps showing vehicular, pedestrian, and bike detours are available on the Arts and Transit Project website.

The TigerTransit and TigerPaWW bus stop will remain at College Road, across from the entrance to McCarter Theatre Center. Bus schedules will not change.
