APPLYING FOR FUNDING FROM THE GSG
The GSG frequently co-sponsors social event with graduate student and
other campus organizations at Princeton. Our budget is limited, and
therefore the GSG prefers to direct its resources toward the events most
likely to attract numbers of graduate students.
The GSG currently has co-sponsorship money available for the current
academic year.
Before requesting GSG funding, we recommend that you read over the
documents below.
We strongly recommend that you read through the Funding
Guidelines before placing your request for co-sponsorship. The
guidelines describe the procedures and deadlines involved in seeking
co-sponsorship. Failure to meet the deadlines may result in the inability
of the GSG to co-sponsor your event.
FUNDING NEWS~ GSG Events Board - November 2006
The GSG Assembly has formed the GSG Events Board
which will now allocate co-sponsorship funds for graduate student events from the GSG, the Graduate
School, and other soruces. Please see the Events Board website before submitting a funding request.
FUNDING NEWS~ Budget Taskforce Report - December 4, 2004
The GSG Assembly faces a number of challenges with regard to funding requests. We have a modest budget which is split between operating expenses, GSG initiated events, and co-sponsorship. There are many worthwhile events to consider and we can only provide a portion of what organizations need to run their events. As a result, Assembly spends valuable time debating the approval of relatively small amounts of money for co-sponsorship.
The Assembly formed a taskforce at the August 11, 2004 meeting and charged it with
answering the following questions:
- How should funds in the GSG Annual Budget be distributed between co-sponsored events and
(solely) GSG Initiated social events?
- Should the GSG Annual Budget be increased? If so, how?
- Assembly spends valuable time debating the approval of relatively small amounts of money for
co-sponsorship. Can this be changed by formation of a separate committee or by another means?
Give recommendations.
The taskforce carefully considered these questions and other related matters and prepared a report of its recommendations. The report was presented at the November 10, 2004 meeting. Please see the written report, issued on December 4, 2004.
Previously, we were following this funding schedule, proposed in January 2004:
