Edwin W. Kemmerer joined the Princeton faculty in 1912. In 1929, he helped to establish the International Finance Section, contributed to its endowment, and became its first director.  He also was named the first Walker Professor of Economics and International Finance in that year, and served in that position until his retirement in 1943.
