A letter from a reader about Campus Jewish life in the '30s An article in the April 18 issue reports on the 60th anniversary of organized Jewish activity at Princeton. I recall earlier activity: In 1935, entering students were required to attend chapel a certain number of times during their freshman and sophomore years. I learned (not through a University notice) that Jewish students could fulfill this requirement by attendance at a weekly service at Murray-Dodge. I understood that these services had been organized before my time. I fulfilled my requirement by attending. The service was run by an upperclassman (no faculty member was present), but one evening Einstein came and spoke to us. EDWARD W. SCHALL '39 Respond to this
