A letter from a reader about The legacy of a class lives on

July 22, 2007:

As the former secretary of the Class of 1924, I regularly receive letters similar to the following from Lubna Malik '08, who expressed her thanks as a recipient of the Henry B. Kirkland Class of 1924 Scholarship: "I am currently a junior in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, with a focus on human-rights violations in South Asia. This summer I hope to intern with a human-rights organization in New York City or in Los Angeles. I also hope to begin work on my senior thesis this summer that will discuss the Ahmadiy'ya Muslim Community in South Asia and the complete annihilation of all of their rights to religious freedom and the basic right to life." Thank you, Lubna!

I regret that I cannot respond to each of these kind students who have expressed their gratitude. I thank PAW for allowing the descendants of '24 to see the ongoing contribution of the class's scholarships. I hope this sample letter will inspire annual givers to keep giving, knowing that there are scholarship funds that continue to provide support for students.
