About Us

The Princeton University Survey Research Center (SRC) was founded in 1992 with a grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The SRC is a resource for Princeton University students, faculty, and administration. The SRC has three principal activities: consultation, education and project management.

The Director of the Survey Research Center is
Prof. Alan B. Krueger, the Bendheim Professor of Economics and Public Affairs at Princeton University. Professor Krueger served as Chairman of President Barack Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers and a Member of his Cabinet from November 2011 to August 2013. He also served as Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy and Chief Economist of the U.S. Department of the Treasury in 2009-10, and as Chief Economist at the U.S. Department of Labor in 1994-95.

Dr. Edward P. Freeland is the Associate Director of the Princeton Survey Research Center and a Lecturer at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. Dr. Freeland teaches a graduate seminar (WWS 593e - Surveys, Polls and Public Policy), and advises faculty and students who are conducting survey research projects.

Naila Rahman is the Assistant Director of Princeton Survey Research Center. She manages the web survey facilities of the center. Ms. Rahman works collaboratively with faculty, students and administrators who want to design and implement research projects based on interviews conducted by telephone, mail or over the Internet.

Helen Varone is the Office Manager for the Center.

Sharon Brucker is a Research Specialist who directs the Graduate Education Initiative Research Project for the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Michael Temme-Soifer is an information technology specialist who oversees computing needs of the Survey Research Center and advises on new technologies and data security issues.

The offices of the Survey Research Center are located on the Princeton University campus at 169 Nassau Street. The Survey Research Center currently operates a 12-station telephone interviewing facility, with a three-station overflow capacity.

Our office is located at 169 Nassau Street, directly across from the CVS store. Metered parking is available on both sides of Nassau Street and on Williams Street (one block south of Nassau Street off Washington Road).
