Methods- We used the completed range finder to measure distances on the scale of 2 meters. we were able to make measurements as close as .03m, and the maximum range obtained was greater than 8m. The potential maximum range is still unknown and the greatest measured distance was constrained by the room size. Moving the range finder outside of the room proved inpractical given the time constraints of the project.

The figure below indicates measurements made, and the corresponding actual distances. The data was obtained by using a 2m stick.

Reason for variance - Due to the physical properties of the speed of sound there is variation with temperature and pressure. The value used in this project was 343m/s. This value assumes that the temperature was 20deg CHowever, as indicated in the above figure all of the data points are located above the line, indicating a delay in the triggering rather than variation of the speed of sound as a reason for the inconformity.
