The Ambassadors' Staircase and its decor were destroyed in 1752. 200 years later, they were recreated in this scale model, which is displayed today in the former vestibule of the Staircase.

In lieu of Louis XIV's grand ceremonial space, a smaller staircase was constructed in the 19th century. It can be visited during guided tours of the king's interior apartments.

This door is one of the few remaining elements of the original space.
