Information Warehouse/Cognos 8 tool
Function
The Cognos 8 tool allows the Princeton Community to access data via canned reports, and also to create their own reports, using approved Princeton data sources.
Technical Architecture
The Information Warehouse leverages the commercially available Cognos Business Intelligence application suite, including the Report Studio and Query Studio report writing tools. IBM purchased the Cognos Company, including the Cognos Business Intelligence application suite, in 2009. Implemented at Princeton in 2005, the Cognos BI suite integrates with many Princeton applications to provide business intelligence services, including reporting abilities to PeopleSoft HR, PeopleSoft Financials, and PeopleSoft Student, and other non-PeopleSoft related applications, including Labor Accounting, Time Collection, and University Housing. The Information Warehouse utilizes Princeton’s LDAP environment to provide authentication.
