About the Calligrapher

Koji Kakinuma (www.kojikakinuma.com) is a calligrapher/artist who is currently an artist-in-residence in the East Asian Studies Department at Princeton University.

He has long sought to break free from the strictures of his classical training and to express himself in innovative, experimental ways, amply shown by his performances that have produced monumental works with a large paint brush, just like the one he held at Princeton in December 2006.
