The Princeton Program in American Studies, founded in 1942, sponsors teaching, research, and public discussion about the history, literature, art, society and culture of the United States.  By bringing together students and faculty from the all the arts, humanities, and social sciences to explore questions that cross disciplinary boundaries, the Program reflects the creative ferment in the study of American life and culture.   We strive to gain a deeper and broader perspective on issues which profoundly affect contemporary life and scholarship.
