Recent writings on organ and tissue donation have encountered comparisons of all kinds - from a donor's kin comparing transplant with adoption to medical substitutions of one tissue with another. In an exploratory manner, this lecture asks what kind of interpretive challenge vernacular comparisons pose to the interested anthropologist. Does it make a difference that they address 'matters of concern'?
