About the Arab Political Development Workshop

The Workshop on Arab Political Development was launched in 2010 as an intellectual hub committed to an inclusive analysis of the political obstacles and opportunities facing the contemporary Arab world.  Through conferences, speaker series, and faculty/student research, APD brings together academics, policy experts, and students of Arab politics to critically and openly engage on a variety of topics and to promote research in those areas.

The workshop supports learning and constructive engagement through colloquia, speaker series, conferences, and other events. Most events are open to faculty, students, and the general public.  The graduate student colloquia are designed to allow for analytical conversations on the politics of the contemporary Arab world with a special focus on providing an interdisciplinary outlet to present research projects. The colloquia are by invitation only.

Committed to capturing ongoing debates in the Arab region, the workshop also sponsors several regional expert talks each semester. Working with the broader university community, APD also sponsors and cosponsors events on campus linked to the politics of the contemporary Arab world.  APD is supported by the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies and the Mamdouha S. Bobst Center for Peace and Justice.
