Choreographer and Artistic Director, The Forsythe Company
William Forsythe, arguably the most influential choreographer working today, is acclaimed for his work with The Forsythe Company, Ballett Frankfurt, and for his work in the repertory of every major ballet company in the world including the Paris Opera Ballet, New York City Ballet, Kirov Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada. Forsythe has singlehandedly revolutionized the vocabulary of traditional ballet and brought dance to the center of artistic debate in the vanguards of theater and visual art. His work defies categorization and has changed the rules of the game in such diverse areas as performance, film, installation art and even web-based knowledge creation systems. This iconic artist joins us at the Lewis Center to talk about his work and process.
