A Cautionary Tale (8:30)
View entire gallery › by Oren Samet-Marram '12

A devout young woman from a loving family gets pregnant after a one-night stand – a simple story told through a series of interviews.  The interviewees’ candid words, sometimes funny, sometimes poignant, piece together a portrait of a confused girl caught up in the moment, who now must deal with the consequences of her actions.  But what story are they really telling?  This 'cautionary tale' challenges the things audiences take for granted in documentary cinema.

This film received the Jury's Choice - 1st Prize in the College/Independent Category of the 36th Annual New Jersey Young Film and Videomakers Festival.  It also won the Best Picture and Award of Excellence at the 2010 Not Quite Legal Film Festival in Trenton, NJ.
