Kate Weare is the Artistic Director of Kate Weare Company, founded in 2004 and based in New York City. Weare received her education from the California Institute of the Arts in LA and the London Contemporary School of Dance. She was awarded first prize in New York's The AWARD Show in 2007, The Princess Grace Award for Choreography in 2009, and a Joyce Theater Foundation Fellowship in 2010. Weare's work has recently been presented at venues such as The Joyce Theater, New York City Center, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, American Dance Festival, Symphony Space, Dance Theater Workshop and Danspace Project to stunning critical response in The New York Times, The Village Voice, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post and Dance Magazine. Weare has created dances in the last two years on companies such as Axis Dance Company, CityDance Ensemble, Paradigm, Scottish Dance Theatre and Buzz Dance Theatre. In June 2011, her own company winds up a busy national spring touring schedule with the premiere of their newest work, Garden, in their second season at The Joyce Theater in New York.
The Princeton Atelier was endowed in 2009 through the generosity of a donor who has chosen to remain anonymous. The Atelier is additionally supported through The Newhouse Foundation, The Erik C. Blachford '89 Fund, The Schare-Pfaffenroth Endowment Fund, The Jordan Roth '97 Performance Fund and The Peter T. Joseph Foundation.
