Tavia Nyong'o is Associate Professor of Performance Studies at New York University, and Associate Chair of the Department of Performance Studies. His interests include performance history, popular music, critical race studies, queer studies, and critical theory. His first book, The Amalgamation Waltz: Race, Performance and the Ruses of Memory (Minnesota, 2009) won the Erroll Hill Award of the American Society for Theatre Research. He is on the editorial boards of Contemporary Theatre Review and Women & Performance, and is the co-editor of the journal Social Text.
