World premiere of James Magruder's translation and adaptation of Moliere's timeless comedy Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, satirizing pretensious social climbing, united with Richard Strauss' well-known orchestral suite performed by the Princetion University Orchestra. Directed by Tim Vasen, Director of the Program in Theater, and Michael Pratt conducting. Choreography by Lily Akerman '13.

A Steady Rain

A Steady Rain by Keith Huff premiered in Chicago in 2007. It won the Joseph Jefferson Award, Chicago’s equivalent of the Tonys, for Best New Work, Best Actor and Best Production. In 2009, it opened on Broadway starring Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman and was named by Time magazine as one of the top ten shows of the year. This will be a senior thesis production featuring JT Glaze '13 and Adam Stasiw '13. Directed by faculty member R.N. Sandberg.
The Tempest by William Shakespeare

Shakespeare’s epic tale of magic, intrigue and romance on a faraway island will be performed with actors and marionettes. Directed by faculty member Tracy Bersley, The Tempest is a senior thesis project of theater student Lily Akerman with marionettes created by senior visual arts student Samantha Ritter.

It Takes a Village a New Musical by Sandra Fong & Emi Nakamura

It Takes a Village follows the arrival of a father and son with unconventional beliefs into a close-knit, traditional community. The son’s nonconformity to defined gender roles is met with apprehension and scandal. As his budding relationship with a girl from the town comes under intense scrutiny, everyone close to them is forced to question their own identities and roles in society. Through comedy, song, and dance, It Takes a Village tackles ideas of gender, sexuality, identity, growing up, and love.

Sunday in the Park with George

A fully staged production of Stephen Sondheim's musical, inspired by Georges Seurat's most famous painting, A Sunday on La Grande Jatte-1884, transforming the painting into a life-size masterpiece to tell the story of a painter's struggle between creating art and living life. Winner of the 1985 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, two Tony Awards, two New York Drama Critics Circle Awards, and numerous Drama Desk Awards. Tickets: $15 general admission, $10 students and seniors.

A new play, by senior Daniel Rattner, about two sisters who return home for their father’s second wedding and face many changes and old friends as they come to terms with each other and the kind of lives they wish to lead.
