Senior All-Star Show
Exhibition of the best of the best of graduating student work
The Program in Visual Arts at Princeton University will present an exhibition of work in a wide range of media by the Class of 2013 graduating seniors in the program. The exhibition, entitled Senior All-Star Show, will feature recent work by students completed as part of their senior thesis projects and will be on view from May 16 through June 4 in the Lucas Gallery at 185 Nassau Street. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
The work on exhibit was selected from among paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, photography, film, video, performance, and installations created by students earning a certificate in Visual Arts along with a degree in their major or a studio art degree. Each presented a solo exhibition or screening of new work during the past semester as a requirement of the program. Many plan on continuing to work in the visual arts field when they graduate, while others will take what they have learned as student artists into a career in another field. Work on display is by: Kathleen Brite, Bodo Buetzler, Chris Dodds, Isabel Flower, Eliot Gee, Lily Healey, Leana Hirschfeld-Kroen, Megan Karande, Polly Korbel, Charlotte Krause, John O’Neill, Laura Preston, Samantha Ritter, and Ugo Udogwu.
“These students were exceptional even before I knew them,” notes Joe Scanlan, Director of the Program in Visual Arts. “I would see them working in various classes when they were underclasspersons, and their innate talents were already evident. When the Lucas Gallery was renovated over last summer to be a much more impressive and daunting exhibition space, all of them were thrilled about rising to the challenge. They are a genuinely adventurous, close-knit, mutually ambitious group.”
The Lucas Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Special additional hours during the University’s Reunion Weekend are Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free.
