Support in Math and Science Courses
Several academic support services listed in the menu to the left and briefly described below can help students understand concepts and solve problems in introductory math- and science-based courses:
• Academic Skills Workshops teach students study and problem-solving strategies. Many of these workshops are offered in partnership with specific introductory chemistry, economics, math, molecular biology, and physics courses. No sign-up is necessary.
• Peer Tutoring through the Residential Colleges provides low-cost tutoring for students having difficulty in introductory economics, math, science, computer science, and engineering courses. Appointments are made through the residential college Dean or Director of Studies.
• McGraw Study Hall @Frist provides free one-on-one tutoring for students in introductory math, chemistry, physics, and economics courses. No appointments are necessary.
• Engineering Study Halls provide free one-on-one tutoring for students in sophomore-level engineering courses. No appointments are necessary.
• Review Sessions provide group review of concepts and problems for students in specific introductory math and science courses. No sign-up is necessary.
