Nick Hand's senior thesis work, the first detection of the kSZ data, was one of the top 10 breakthrough of 2012.  Other breakthroughs include the detection of the Higgs.  Working with David Spergel, Nick used a  combination of ACT and SDSS data to detect this very faint effect and to trace the large scale motions of galaxies 8 billion light years away from Earth.  This is the second year in a row that ACT results made a top ten list.  Last year, Spergel and Princeton
