Draine writes new book on Physics of the Interstellar and Intergalactic Medium
Bruce Draine has just completed a new textbook on the astrophysics of the gas, dust, cosmic rays, and magnetic fields that fills the space between the stars. This book builds on his graduate courses at Princeton and covers topics including radiative processes, fluid dynamics, cosmic rays, astrochemistry, interstellar dust, and emission and absorption line diagnostics.
Alex Dalgrarno (Harvard) notes that "It is likely to become the bible on the subject". Ewine van Dishoeck (Leiden) writes "this is the book that I have been waiting for twenty years" and notes that "it continues the fine tradition of Princeton professors writing seminal books on the topic". Lyman Spitzer's "Physical Processes in the Interstellar Medium" trained generations of astronomers since its 1978 publication.
