Cosmology with massive spectroscopic surveys
Astronomy Spring Colloquia - Tuesday, March 2, 2010 4:30pm-5:30pm, Peyton Hall auditorium:
By Mike Blanton (NYU Astronomy)
Modern spectroscopic surveys provide a unique tool
for precisely measuring the expansion of the Universe,
the growth of structure, and the formation of galaxies.
In this talk, I describe both large- and small-scale
constraints on cold dark matter models using the Sloan
Digital Sky Survey. Further, I describe plans for future
surveys to extend these high precision techniques to
redshifts greater than unity.
