Blackboard WordPress Course Blogs is a blogging platform based on the popular WordPress software. Blogs created with this system are accessible through course sites in the Blackboard Course Management System and access is restricted to participants of the course.
While the native Blackboard blogs are easy to use and integrate with the Grade Center, they lack the functionality, extensibility, and customizability that WordPress blogs offer. A WordPress blog set-up is automated by the instructor clicking the "Blogs (WordPress)" link in the Tools area of the course.
The plugins for the Blackboard WordPress Course Blogs are tailored for academic use in a course. For example, they allow an instructor to easily create footnotes inside the blog, create and embed animated flashcards, create collapsible text (for FAQ's or quiz reviews), or embed videos (including Kaltura videos).
