Bridge Year is a structured nine-month program with a focus on community service and cultural immersion. Each program is comprised of several key components.
The volunteer placement. Bridge Year students are placed in volunteer assignments that serve local communities while enriching their understanding of the world. Bridge Year volunteers might teach in an elementary school or serve patients in a health clinic. Other placements might include promoting economic development or organizing environmental initiatives. Regardless of the assignment, participants work closely with the host community, collaborating earnestly and gaining a deep understanding of the lives and experiences of local people.
The living experience. Bridge Year volunteers live with local families within the community where they serve, providing them the opportunity to establish meaningful relationships, develop and master language skills, and become a part of the local society.
