Aaron Schwartz - Bridge Year Peru

I’m from Melville, Long Island, a suburb of New York City. I’m used to the fast pace of New York life, so "la hora peruana" is going to be one of the biggest adjustments for me. I graduated from Half Hollow Hills High School East, where I spent practically all of my time in the Music Wing. When I wasn’t working on a new saxophone piece, I could be found planning the next event for TRI-M Music Honor Society, singing, or acting. Though I don’t sport a rugged beard, I am an outdoor enthusiast. I’ve been able to expand my comfort zones through Outward Bound backpacking and rock climbing trips, and I hit the trails with my mountain bike every chance I get. I’m always looking for a new adventure! Perhaps my favorite part of the week is my work with the Friendship Circle, through which I’ve become close friends with a special needs teen. The wonderful feeling that comes with service is my main motivation for pursuing the Bridge Year Program. Bridge Year will allow me to explore the world, immerse myself in a new culture, and meet fascinating people from Princeton to Peru!
