Avichai Ozur Bass
Senegal Volunteer 2013-14
My name is Avichai Ozur Bass, and I live in Potomac, MD, with my two younger siblings, two parents, and two freaky cats, all of whom I love very much. I graduated from the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School, where I played varsity soccer and acted in plays. I have been going there since seventh grade, and I’ve actually never attended a non-Jewish School. My mom is a Rabbi, and my dad is a Cantor at my local synagogue. Senegal is going to be very different, and I really look forward to immersing myself in its embrace. I love learning about other cultures, foods, and languages. I am a little bit of a geek when it comes to languages, and I love learning new ones. I speak Portuguese along with Hebrew, English, and some Arabic. I am very excited to learn Wolof and French. I am happiest when I am watching Fluminense (my favorite soccer team) win, when I am playing Settlers of Catan, singing with the rest of my not-quite Von Trapp family, and exploring new places.
