Brazil Volunteer 2013-14
Hi, I’m Eli Tettelbach! I hail from Rockville, MD, right outside our nation’s capital of Washington, D.C. I recently graduated from Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community High School where I was involved in many clubs and activities, including tech crew, varsity golf, Model UN, and National Honor Society. Additionally, I work at my synagogue not only tutoring students for their upcoming Bar or Bat Mitzvahs but also volunteering in the pre-school. I enjoy reading, hanging out with friends, and being outdoors. I also have a penchant for languages, having taken twelve years of Hebrew and five years of French. As such, I am very excited to learn Portuguese and add another language to my repertoire. Before last summer, I had only traveled around the United States and had never left the country. Since then, I have visited Montreal, Paris, and Israel. As I spent more time abroad, my love for travel and desire to see more of the world grew as well. Therefore, I am greatly looking forward to spending the next nine months in Brazil working with the local community and immersing myself in the language and culture.
