China Volunteer 2013-14
I, son of a part-German mom and 100% Russian dad, have lived in Seattle all my life, a place I am beginning to appreciate more and more as I prepare to leave it. Up until sixth grade I studied at Evergreen School, and it was there that I began my study of Chinese. From fourth grade until my junior year at Lakeside High School I learned the language alongside my closest friends. Lakeside was the place I explored my interests in the subjects of math and science and found my passion for computer science, the subject I, at least at this point, hope to concentrate in at Princeton. Most of my spare time during my middle and high school years has been spent swimming for my club (and later high school) swim teams, an activity that has been extremely rewarding. I spend the rest of my free time practicing photography, my favorite artistic pursuit and something that I am excited to continue in China, as well as listening to music, watching movies, learning about computer science, and enjoying the company of my friends.
