Peru Volunteer 2013-14
I hail from the land down under. Also known as California. (Well, at least in my book.) From a town called Arroyo Grande-- “the big ditch”--where I am a recent graduate of the aptly-named Arroyo Grande High School. I wish that I could soulfully sing this blurb to you--not because I am a particularly gifted singer, but simply because I wish I could enliven the typically dry genre of the autobiographical blurb with the profound power of song; I aim to enliven all that I do with a drop of dynamism. Barring that, however, let me give you the basics: I harbor undue passions for--among many things--chocolate, goodness, public radio, forensics, autonomy, cowboys, improv, and silence. I enjoy reading good fiction, writing good letters, observing good teaching, appreciating good people, being moved by good poems, being humbled by wonders and profundities small and large, and much more. Having spent an incredible summer in the Dominican Republic last year, I look forward to returning to Latin America to hone my Spanish skills, do whatever small good I can for this world, and observe/appreciate/record/learn from all that the tremendous Peruvian land and people no doubt have to offer.
