Senegal Volunteer 2013-14
I was born in Mesa, Arizona, but have lived in beautiful San Luis Obispo, California since the ripe old age of two months with my parents and younger sister (who came along when I was five). I’m an actress and Shakespearophile, avid consumer of books and Thai food, occasional tap dancer, lover of card games and puzzles, and student of the world. I recently graduated from (the creatively named) San Luis Obispo High; my favorite bits of high school included four years of Iambic Pentameter Club productions (with one as director), Chemistry and English and Math, acting professionally in December of tenth grade, and leading International Club this past year. I’ve travelled to France two-and-a-half times (once prenatally), Brazil this past spring (shout out to the beautiful and ever-supportive Thomas), and am beyond excited to be furthering my global education by spending the next nine months in an environment so different from anything I’ve ever experienced! I especially look forward to gaining a deeper understanding of service and exploring the rich culture of Senegal. This year promises to be an adventure, and I’m so thankful for this opportunity to push my comfort zone, reflect, learn, and grow. I’d lastly like to send thanks to my grandparents, who are simply the best.
