Nicole Marvin - Bridge Year Senegal

Hi, I’m Nicole! I have spent the overwhelming majority of the past eighteen years in the beautiful town of Pawling, New York and am thrilled to be taking on the excitement and challenges of living in Senegal. Most of my past service has been locally based, and I am looking forward to working in foreign communities to gain new cultural perspectives. I recently graduated from Kent School in Connecticut, where I was a tri-varsity athlete and a member of the Senior Council. My favorite class during my senior year was a French Literature class, which I am pleased to say has improved my language skills that will undoubtedly be valuable in the months to come; the one thing I need to sharpen up now is my Senegalese accent! I live with my parents, who are both lawyers, and I have a brother and a sister. I love to listen to and create music. I also enjoy being outside and staying active, which is why I like my job as a waterfront lifeguard. I have wanted to take a gap year since I was in tenth grade, and my participation in Bridge Year is truly a dream come true.
