India Volunteer 2013-14
Namaste, everyone! I am William Hinthorn, and I am from the wonderful town of Carlisle, Pennsylvania. I graduated from Carlisle High School where I swam and participated in such student groups as Model UN and class council. Some of my favorite pastimes include kayaking, reading, and backpacking, so if given the option to hike through the Indian Himalayan Mountains this year, you know where my vote lies! I work as a lifeguard at a local summer camp and love working with kids; I hope to gain a position either with World Literacy Canada or in the Bal Ashram as a teacher for those less fortunate. Though I will be the one truly receiving the lesson, I am anxious to work hard this year and do my best. Though the past summer has slipped away in a flurry of trips, paperwork, vaccinations, and losing visa applications in the mail, my appetite has been whet to learn a new language, culture, and of course cuisine, and I look forward to taking a Gap Year and finally gaining a mature perspective on the world.
