Michael is a Ph.D. candidate in Politics, working at the intersection of politics, ethics, and religion. Raised on a small farm in Tennessee, Michael graduated with a degree in political science from Rhodes College in Memphis. After college, he studied philosophy and theology at Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. In addition to pursuing a Ph.D. at Princeton, Michael has co-founded a small non-profit called Alliance Africa (www.allianceafrica.org), advised colleges on service-learning and experiential education, and served as chief of staff for a campaign for U.S. Congress. As an RGS at Butler, Michael advises students applying for post-graduate fellowships, sponsors events around political issues and elections, and organizes opportunities for community service and civic engagement.
