- Princeton emerged as a national model in the field of addressing high-risk drinking through our inclusion in a publication, High-Risk Drinking on College Campuses: College Life and Alcohol: Challenges and Solutions: A Resource Guide, produced by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
- The Alcohol Policy Working Group reviewed the University’s alcohol-related disciplinary policies regarding undergraduates and recommended revisions that would better align the consequences for violations involving alcohol with their level of risk. These changes will be implemented by the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students and the Faculty-Student Committee on Discipline in academic year 2010 -2011.
- The Data Working Group produced the first comprehensive campus-wide inventory of survey questions regarding alcohol. This inventory includes 298 different queries or pieces of information that have been collected by various sources at Princeton.
- The Dispelling Myths Working Group identified several myths associated with high-risk drinking. These myths — and their parallel “facts” — already are being incorporated into key resources, such as Just the Facts, our successful booklet for students about alcohol and the Princeton campus.
- The Princeton Specific Tool Working Group is well on its way to developing a web-based alcohol education tool that will be unique to our institution and directed to our students, especially freshmen.
- The Education Working Group created a list of campus events and social traditions that occur in a student’s lifetime at Princeton where students are at particular risk for engaging in high-risk drinking. The group also developed a corresponding list of messages that should be communicated to students at these times.
