Lot 17 Expansion / Grounds Support Area / Waste Transfer Station #1
As the University adds new buildings and landscapes, the campus maintenance operations grow accordingly.
To partially replace parking lost due to construction of the Princeton Neuroscience Institute and Peretsman-Scully Hall, Lot 17 will be expanded with parking spaces for 58 cars. The lot will use space now held by three unused clay tennis courts and will employ porous pavement to reduce stormwater runoff. The Lot 17 parking expansion has been approved by the Princeton Regional Planning Board and construction is expected to be completed in spring 2014.
To support expanding operations, a new facility for Grounds and Buildings Maintenance is anticipated on the site of the current Grounds Maintenance Yard off Faculty Road, south of Lot 17 and west of Bedford Field. It will replace cramped and outmoded storage sheds with a new central yard, surrounded by a storage barn, covered bins for landscape materials, plant storage space, staff support buildings and a waste transfer station. The site will be constructed to meet new campus standards for stormwater management by using underground stormwater storage and rain gardens. The Grounds Support Area and Waste Transfer Station project is on currently on hold.
