Connections with Alumni

Alumni Careers Network (ACN)

Over 4,000 alumni are willing to talk with students in order to give advice that can help them make decisions about their careers. Many of these alumni are also willing to provide specific help with job or internship searches. Students can search for the members of the “ACN” (Alumni Careers Network) by such criteria as major, advanced degree, current job type, current industry, and location. The mentoring that these alumni provide is a vital part of the career-building support available to students and other alumni through the Princeton community.

Princeternship Program

Those alumni who would like to invite students to their workplace for an “externship” experience can do so through the Princeternship Program. For 1-3 days during a break period, a number of alumni host one or more students to give them a “day in the life” perspective of their career and industry. This opportunity is particularly important for those students who have little experience in a specific field but a great interest to find out more. Students who are interested in a Princeternship must go through an application and interview process through TigerTracks. Alumni are welcome to register at any time to host students during the Reading Period/Intercession Break or Spring Break periods. The Princeternships generally take place in Philadelphia, New York, or nearby New Jersey.

IMAGINE Speaker Series & Career Panels

Alumni often share their expertise and advice through career panels and as guest speakers in the IMAGINE Speaker Series. These events take place on campus and offer students a glimpse into careers from a wide range of fields. Through the stories of these alumni and other professions, students can add to their knowledge of different careers and plan ahead in working towards specific career paths. Events such as these can also bring students in touch with those who can be a contact for them as they conduct a job or internship search.

Alumni-Student Receptions

Throughout the year, Career Services hosts various receptions for alumni and students. These networking events provide students the opportunity to meet directly with alumni who have studied in particular majors and who have or are currently working in a number of different fields. The main reception is held on campus, while area receptions in select cities are held during the summer months. Princeton-in-Washington is a special kind of program that involves 2 full months of opportunities for students who are in Washington, DC for the summer to connect with alumni there.
