Career Counseling for Students & Alumni

Career Counselors who are knowledgeable about career options, trends, and skills and who are able to guide you through making career-related decisions are available to meet with Princeton students or alumni for consultation. From thinking about your major/concentration to exploring career options to preparing for graduate school, they are able to talk with you so that you can gain a better understanding of your interests, motivations, skills, and the types of job options that are the best fit for you. You may also meet with a counselor to get specific feedback on a resume or personal statement, or if you have a question about what to do in a particular situation concerning job offers or admission to graduate or professional school.

You can meet with a counselor any time about anything career-related. This might include the following:

  1. Choosing or changing a major, especially as it pertains to career goals
  2. Discovering career options and developing a career direction
  3. Clarifying interests, skills, values, perhaps through an assessment
  4. Acquiring career-building skills, such as writing cover letters, interviewing, developing contacts, and researching employers
  5. Learning decision-making skills as you weigh various factors affecting internship experiences, career goals, and possibly graduate study

All meetings are confidential, with the understanding that you as the client will take responsibility for turning the strategies discussed into action.
