On-Campus Recruiting Policies
Scheduling Policy
You may request to conduct interviews and/or hour-long information sessions on campus. Typically, interviews are held at the Office of Career Services and information sessions are held in the Frist Campus Center. Please see the Registration Guide section of our website for further information.
You may also consider using the Nassau Inn (information sessions and interviews) or Prospect House (information sessions only). If using the Nassau Inn or Prospect House, we ask that you discuss the timing of these events with us before finalizing the arrangements. If you plan to use any other venue, either within the Princeton area or at your company site, we must be notified in advance of the date and location. This allows us to minimize scheduling conflicts among similar recruiting organizations and the pressure on students who must move back and forth between locations.
Please note that alcohol is prohibited in the on-campus recruiting program. As a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) we abide by the Principles for Professional Conduct, which state that serving alcohol is inadvisable and should not be part of the recruitment process.
Second Round Interview Policy
- For Fall 2013: NO 2nd rounds can be offered outside the Princeton area between September 23 – September 27 (the first week of Fall interviews). After September 27, Employers MUST give students at least three business days notice to leave the Princeton area.
-
For Spring 2014: NO 2nd rounds can be offered outside the Princeton area between February 3 – February 7 (the first week of Spring interviews). After February 7, Employers MUST give students at least three business days notice to leave the Princeton area.
-
Employers who violate the “Second Round Interview Policy” will be subject to penalties which may include being unable to schedule interviews during the first two weeks of the next recruiting season in which they participate.
-
Students should not be asked to cancel a first round interview in order to attend a second round interview. Employers should make every effort to accommodate candidates’ class and interview schedules.
Offer Policy
-
We encourage a reasonable time frame for acceptances (outlined below) and prohibit any practice that improperly influences and affects job acceptances including the use of bonuses, the ability to choose a particular department, and exploding offers to induce early acceptances.
-
All employers who participate in on-campus recruiting will be expected to follow the Offer Policy for both job postings with on-campus interviews as well as postings with off-campus interviews.
-
Employers that violate the "Offer Policy" will be subject to penalties which may include forfeiture of the use of Career Services, including on-campus interviewing, career fair attendance and employer information sessions, for the following academic year.
-
If employers make full-time offers at the end of the summer to interns, the interns should be given until November 15, 2013 to make a decision, so that these students may participate in Fall on-campus recruiting. If employers make internship offers to interns to return for a second internship the following summer, the interns should be given until February 21, 2014 to make a decision, so that these students may participate in Spring on-campus recruiting.
-
If employers make full-time offers to students through Fall recruiting, students should be given until November 29, 2013 or two weeks to make a decision (whichever is later).
-
If employers make Summer internship offers to students through Spring recruiting, students should be given until February 21, 2014 or two weeks to make a decision (whichever is later). Please note that on-campus interviews for internships do not begin until February 3, 2014.
Off-Season Offers for Full-Time or Internship positions
- Full-Time Offers: Employers interviewing and extending full-time offers to students in between the fall and spring recruiting periods (December 6, 2013 - February 2, 2014) must give students until February 21, 2014 or two weeks (whichever is later) to respond to that offer, without pressure to respond on an earlier date. Click here to view the on-campus recruiting calendar.
- Internship Offers: Please note that spring on-campus recruiting begins February 3, 2014. Employers interviewing and extending internship offers to students prior to the start of spring on-campus recruiting must give students until February 21, 2014 or two weeks (whichever is later) to respond to that offer, without pressure to respond on an earlier date.
Deferred Start Dates/Rescinded Offers
-
Should there be a need for your organization to defer start dates or rescind offers for Princeton students, we ask that you notify our office prior to contacting those students who are impacted by this decision. We would like the opportunity to discuss with you the student(s) involved and the particular circumstances surrounding the deferred start date or rescinded offer (i.e., compensation issues, new start date, etc.).
-
Recruiting organizations that fail to comply with this request risk losing their on-campus recruiting privileges at Princeton University.
Room Scheduling Cancellation Policy (fees)
-
The Interview Rooms fee is refundable if the cancellation is made at least 30 days in advance.
-
The Information Session Room fee is refundable if made at least 48 hours in advance.
-
The per-semester Registration Fee is NONREFUNDABLE, regardless of when any cancellation is made.

Any fees associated with Prospect House or the Nassau Inn are the sole responsibility of the recruiting organization.
