Introduction to Marketing by Rod McNealy `72

Rod McNealy `72, Principal of McNealy Advanced Communications (MAC), has collaborated with the Office of Career Services to offer an Introduction to Marketing workshop ideal for those considering a future marketing career, who plan to interact with a marketing organization, or who would like to develop skills and competencies in this area. Space is limited: $10 refundable deposit to make reservation at the Front Desk, Career Services

Date/Time: October 2, 2010 at 09:00 am - 4:00 pm

At the end of the program participants will be able to: • Define what marketing is, describe the role of marketing, and understand why it is the engine driving all business strategy today. • Comprehend and apply core marketing concepts to analyze a range of marketing problems. • Understand Insights and Ideas - Key elements to Brand Marketing Communication. • Identify Marketing Management tasks (Buying Process, Market Map, Benefit Ladder) and understand how marketing fits into the organizational environment. • Build knowledge of key marketing concepts: Marketing Segmentation; Targeting; New Products, Line Extensions; Product Positioning; and Brands versus Products Lunch will be provided, and participants will be given a course workbook. In addition, a case study will be emailed the week prior for preparation for the course. Students will be asked to come to Career Services to leave a $10 deposit which will be refunded at the time of the workshop due to attendance limitations. Roderick M. McNealy ’72 is the Principal of McNealy Advanced Communications (MAC) and conducts marketing and advertising courses at the Wharton School, the Yale School of Management, and Mount Holyoke College. His thirty-six year business career has focused on the fields of Marketing and Advertising. He worked in a variety of Marketing Leadership roles at Johnson and Johnson for thirty-one years, with his most recent role being Director of the Johnson and Johnson Marketing and Advertising College.
