Insider’s Look at Entrepreneurism & Social Entrepreneurism with Omar Wasow

Omar Wasow, Senior Research Assistant, in the Politics department will talk about his own career journey, with both entrepreneurial and social entrepreneurial accomplishments. His advice and experiences will form the basis of a lively discussion for all participants. Co-sponsored by the Black History Month Committee.

Omar Wasow will be an Assistant Professor in the Department of Politics in the fall of 2013. His research focuses on race and politics, particularly in relation to education and criminal justice. In addition, Omar was the co-founder of BlackPlanet.com, a social network he helped grow to over three million users a month. Omar also works to demystify technology through regular TV and radio segments. In 2003, he helped found a K-8 charter school in Brooklyn. He is a recipient of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship and the Aspen Institute’s Henry Crown Fellowship. Follow him on Twitter at @owasow.
