Tools for the Academic Job Search
As you look for faculty, postdoc, teaching, or other academic positions, you'll find that you are asked to provide certain documents as part of your application.
The first and most important piece is the CV or curriculum vitae. This details your academic and work history, as well as other experiences, your skills, and any awards. Your CV will be accompanied by a cover letter. Depending on the position, you may also be asked for a statement of research/research plans, as well as a statement of your teaching philosophy. Lastly you will be asked to provide letters of recommendation as part of your dossier for faculty and postdoc positions in particular.
The next step after submitting your job applications is to prepare for interviews and when the time comes, considering multiple offers.
If you are applying for non-academic positions, make sure to view our information on resumes and other pieces of the non-academic job search toolkit.
