Resumes & Other Job Application Documents

Anyone looking for a job or internship will need to prepare key documents that accurately represent who they are to the potential employer. A resume is generally a 1-page document that represents your education, experience, and skills. It is often accompanied by a cover letter, which introduces your resume to the employer. Some applications will also require you to submit a writing sample. At some point in the process, you will also have to provide a list of references who can speak on your behalf.

As you interact with potential employers, you’ll also need to demonstrate your knowledge of professional etiquette through such things as thank-you letters and properly worded emails. Once you’ve been extended an offer, you will need to write either an accept or decline letter. Prepare these documents well, sharpen your interviewing and other career-building skills, and you’ll be that much closer to landing the right job for you.
