CBE Postdoctoral Research Associate Luisa Whittaker-Brooks was recently named as one of five recipients nationwide of a 2013 L’Oreal USA Fellowships For Women in Science. The fellowship, which is accompanied by a $60,000 research award,
recognizes outstanding U.S.-based women researchers at the start of their careers. Whittaker-Brooks is working with Professor Lynn Loo to synthesize nanoscale materials for use in electronics, window coatings, sensing devices and photovoltaics. The L’Oréal award will support the design and implementation of thermoelectric materials to be used as solar-thermal generators in photovoltaics that are more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. For more information, see the news story on the Princeton University homepage, or the program announcement on L’Oreal’s website.
