Connelly ’74 Named Executive Director of the American Chemical Society

Thomas M. Connelly Jr. ’74 has been named Executive Director of the American Chemical Society (ACS), effective February 17, 2015.  With more than 161,000 members, ACS is the world’s largest scientific society.  Chartered by Congress, ACS is at the forefront of the evolving worldwide chemistry enterprise and the premier professional home for chemists, chemical engineers and related professions around the world.  After receiving his B.S.E. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton in 1974, Connelly earned a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge in 1977 and joined DuPont, serving in a broad range of positions around the world.  On December 31, 2014, after 37 years with DuPont, Connelly retired as Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer.  Connelly also served as a member of the Princeton CBE Advisory Council from 2001-2013
