Tom *93 Highlights Industry Careers to Women ChE Students

CBE department alumna Jean W. Tom *93 has been profiled in the August 2016 issue of Chemical Engineering Progress (the member magazine of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, AIChE).  For the past three years, Tom has organized and run a day-long summer program at Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) in New Brunswick, NJ, for women chemical engineering undergraduates.  The event introduces them to the types of careers available to chemical engineers in industry (particularly the pharmaceutical industry), including the associated challenges and rewards; it incorporates laboratory and plant tours, as well as presentations by, and panel discussions with, BMS engineers.  This year, over 30 students attended, drawn from a dozen schools.  AIChE members can access the full article on-line here.
