Gouveia Awarded Soros Fellowship
Incoming CBE Ph.D. student Bernardo Gouveia, currently a senior at the University of California – Berkeley, has been awarded a 2017 Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans, as announced today in a press release and via a full-page advertisement in the New York Times. Soros Fellowships recognize and support outstanding immigrants and children of immigrants from all over the country and world who are pursuing graduate studies in the US; 30 fellowships were awarded this year, selected from 1,775 applicants. Each of the recipients was chosen for his or her "potential to make significant contributions to US society, culture, or their academic fields".
