Register receives Special Creativity Award from the National Science Foundation

Rick Register will be the recipient of a two-year Special Creativity Award from the Division of Materials Research of the National Science Foundation, as an extension to his current grant. The project, "Structuring Polymer Crystals through Macromolecular Architecture", seeks to synthesize polymers which will spontaneously self-assemble to give crystals whose mesoscopic structure (thickness and orientation) can be precisely directed, and tuned over broad ranges by altering the macromolecular architecture. As described by the NSF, Special Creativity Awards are intended "to offer the most creative investigators an extended opportunity to attach adventurous, 'high-risk' opportunities in the same general research area, but not necessarily covered by the original/current proposal."
